According to Sky Sports, West Ham United have made a bid worth up to £33million for Saint-Etienne defender Wesley Fofana.
It’s claimed that many other clubs are interested in Fofana too, but West Ham have so far made the highest bid for the defender.
Their offer comes to £23million up front and then another £10million in add-ons, which has pushed the Hammers to the front of the queue.
Leicester City have been in talks to sign Fofana, but West Ham have now made their move to hijack the Foxes.
Saint-Etienne originally wanted £25million for Fofana, but that asking price has been ramped up amid such strong interest in England.
The 19-year-old has come up through the Saint-Etienne ranks having arrived from Bel Air in 2015, and made 24 first-team appearances last season.

Fofana is big and strong at 6ft 3in tall, whilst he has huge potential at just 19 and could make West Ham major profit in the future.
This means that West Ham’s pursuit of James Tarkowski may be over, with the focus now on beating Leicester to Fofana.
