West Ham are reportedly interested in Anderlecht rock Leander Dendoncker.

Belgian newspaper HLN claim West Ham United assistant manager Stuart Pearce travelled to Belgium to watch commanding Anderlecht ace Leander Dendoncker shine in a 1-0 win over Genk.

It is believed that the Hammers are interested in signing the 22-year-old, who has continued to impress with Anderlecht as another example of an excellent youth system that has also produced the likes of Youri Tielemans.

The east Londoners have been linked with a whole host of central midfielders this month, including Jonjo Shelvey, Harry Arter, Joe Allen and more, with Dendoncker also said to be a name on the list.

Leander Dendoncker of RSC Anderlecht arrives for the UEFA Champions League group B match between Celtic FC and RSC Anderlecht at Celtic Park on December 5, 2017 in Glasgow, United Kingdom.

However, the Belgium international played at centre-back on Sunday as Sofiane Hanni’s goal proved enough for the visitors, helping Anderlecht to a third league clean sheet in a row.

Known for his aerial ability, Dendoncker is more than adept with the ball on the deck and that allows him to shine in the middle of the park as well as orchestrate moves from defence.

It is claimed Anderlecht want a figure between £17.6million and £22million for the services of Dendoncker, while manager Hein Vanhaezebrouck does not want to sell him for any price: “Leander has to stay.”

But with Pearce travelling to Belgium to watch Dendoncker, he is set to report back to David Moyes today and that could see the Hammers move for the versatile ace with only nine days remaining in the transfer window.
