Marcus Forss is starring on loan at AFC Wimbledon with Premier League quartet West Ham United, Saints, Brighton and Watford reportedly interested.
West Ham United and Southampton are interested in signing Brentford striker Marcus Forss on the back of his exceptional form during a loan spell at AFC Wimbledon, according to TEAMtalk.
The Bees have lost the likes of Chris Mepham and Ezri Konsa to Premier League clubs over the years and, 20-year-old Forss could be about to follow in their footsteps, despite the fact that he has played just 12 times for the Championship outfit.
The Finland U21 international has been a revelation since joining Wimbledon on a short-term deal over the summer. Forss has been, fittingly enough, a force of nature with seven goals in eight League One games for the struggling Dons – and eight in all competitions.
According to TEAMtalk, Brentford are ‘inundated’ with offers for their rising star with West Ham, Southampton, Watford and Brighton all sending scouts to watch the one-time West Bromwich Albion youngster in action. Brentford have the option to re-call him in January before selling him on for a profit, should they so wish.
“He scores all types of goals, that’s the thing,” said new Wimbledon coach Glyn Hodges after Forss’ hat-trick against Southend earlier in October, speaking to London News Online. He’ll be desperate to keep Forss around.
“Every goal he has got is different. You see him every day in training, it’s left foot, right foot, no backlift. You give him a chance and you always think he’s gonna at least hit the target – today they’ve gone in.”
Watford, who drew 0-0 with Bournemouth on Saturday and sit bottom of the Premier League table, are crying out for a striker right now but West Ham and Southampton are probably a little short in attack too.
Brighton, however, have the exciting Aaron Connolly, the live-wire Neal Maupay and the veteran Glenn Murray in their ranks.
