ESPN claim West Ham and Nottingham Forest are among the clubs in the race to sign Strasbourg striker Habib Diallo. The Senegal star is also interesting Graham Potter at Brighton this summer.
Diallo, 26, joined Strasbourg from Metz in 2020 – after 48 goals in 116 games for his former club. Since his move to Strasbourg, he has been equally as prolific, netting 21 in 65 outings. In 2021-22, he got 12 in 33.
- Newcastle and Tottenham want Leeds star, but Elland Road is his best move
- Robin Koch an unsung hero at right-back in Leeds’ final games of 21/22
The 13-time Senegal international is renowned for his pace, but even more so his ability to leap and win headers. Little surprise, then, that West Ham want Diallo – given their usage of set-pieces.
Forest and Brighton also want Diallo, who cost Strasbourg just £9million two seasons ago (ESPN). The French club are in the driving seat though, with three years left on his contract.
West Ham, Brighton and Forest in race to sign Diallo: Which club is best?
West Ham is perhaps the most-tempting given the Hammers have qualified for European football for a second season in a row – albeit the Conference League. Strasbourg missed out by three points, finishing in sixth.
Forest are likely to pursue a permanent deal for Aston Villa’s Keinan Davis, but they could do with another addition in the final third. But given Forest have only just gone up, Diallo might be concerned about their safety.
Brighton would be a very good move for Diallo. The kind of player Brighton like, relatively unknown and cheap-ish – but with plenty of potential. They need a striker that can score more regularly than Neal Maupay.
