The Frenchman is reportedly wanted by both West Ham United and Newcastle United.
Reports emanating from France today suggest that the Hammers and the Magpies have been told they will have to fork out around £8.8 million if they want to sign Saint-Étienne defender Kevin Malcuit, according to French media outlet L’Equipe.
The 25-year-old enjoyed a fine campaign in Ligue 1 last season, and the consistent nature of his impressive displays led to interest from a handful of clubs from England, including both West Ham and Newcastle.

Both clubs are believed to be in the market for an established right-back this summer, although it could be argued that Rafa Benitez’ need is more pressing, after he released Vurnon Anita last month.
Slaven Bilic has cover in the right-back slot, but Malcuit would still represent an upgrade on Sam Byram, who still seems to be a bit wet behind the ears.
The Siant-Etienne star is incredibly quick, and has an impressive understanding of the game. He is also versatile, and can be used as an auxiliary midfielder if needed – something that would appeal to both the east Londoners and the Tyneside outfit.
And the reported fee of £8.8 million should not provide a problem for either club.
The report from L’Equipe suggests that the Frenchman is keen on a switch to the Premier League, and that the guarantee of regular first-team football will likely hold heavy weight during his decision-making process.
Where he will end up next term though, remains unclear.
