West Ham United and Leicester City are willing to pay £18 million for Roma midfielder Amadou Diawara and, according to Calciomercato, the Serie A giants have already identified his replacement.
A former Napoli youngster told Sky Italia last week that he is ‘happy’ at the Stadio Olimpico. But it seems that any decisions over his immediate future could be taken out of his hands.
Diawara has fallen behind Jordan Veretout, Lorenzo Pellegrini and Gonzalo Villar in Paulo Fonseca’s pecking order this season.
He was left on the bench on Sunday as Roma suffered a 4-0 defeat at the hands of a Napoli side who produced a fitting, thrilling tribute to the dearly departed Diego Maradona at an emotional Stadio San Paolo.
What’s more, Calciomercato report that Roma are already planning to sign Uruguayan enforcer Nahitan Nandez from Cagliari in the New Year.
Selling Diawara would raise funds for a raid of the Sardinian outfit.
West Ham and Leicester were first linked with Diawara last week and Calciomercato now backs up those claims, stating that the Hammers and the Foxes are both willing to pay the £18 million fee Roma are looking for.
A classy, deep-lying midfielder who averages a 90 per cent pass completion rate from his favoured number six role, Diawara is as useful off the ball as he is with it.
The 23-year-old Guinea international is equally adept at snapping into tackles, breaking up opposition attacks and starting his own.
