West Ham United are reporting battling Leicester City for Reece McAlear.

According to The Scottish Sun, Leicester City and West Ham United are battling for the signature of Motherwell youngster Reece McAlear.
McAlear, 17, has come up through the Motherwell ranks, and he has been tipped for a bright future after a series of performances for Scotland Under-16′ and Under-17’s.
The 6ft 1in midfielder is now attracting major interest, and it’s believed that Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers has wanted McAlear since his days at Celtic.
Rodgers’ long-term interest in the Scot is being challenged though, as West Ham are thought to be plotting their own move for the teenager this summer.
Beating the Foxes to McAlear could be a masterstroke from the Hammers, adding him to their development ranks whilst hoping he can step up like Declan Rice has.
Motherwell’s academy is really starting to churn out talents, and whilst they’re desperate to keep McAlear, they may find that he heads a similar way to David Turnbull and Jake Hastie – out of Fir Park.

Turnbull is set for Celtic whilst Hastie has joined Rangers, and McAlear may now head to England to continue his development, which would be a blow for Motherwell, but another sign of how their youth work is thriving.
Allan Campbell, Chris Cadden and James Scott are three more highly-rated youngsters, whilst young midfielder Stuart McKinstry is heading to Leeds United this summer.
