West Ham United and Fulham could be going head-to-head to sign MLS left-back Kai Wagner from Philadelphia Union during the January transfer window, according to the Mail.
The rumours just never seem to stop for the Philly-based outfit.
After losing star attacker Brenden Aaronson to Salzburg and seeing Mark McKenzie flirt with a move to Celtic, arguably the most in-form full-back in the American game is now being mentioned as a target for two Premier League clubs.
The Mail claims that £3.5 million Wagner has emerged as a cut-price target for West Ham and their London neighbours Fulham.
The Germany-born 23-year-old, who moved to the USA after a spell at Schalke, is a typically attack-minded full-back although he has also caught the eye with some solid defensive displays since MLS returned after the spring lockdown.
Interestingly, however, neither West Ham nor Fulham are short of options at left-back.
Fulham signed USMNT international Antonee Robinson from Wigan Athletic to provide competition for play-off final hero Joe Bryan over the summer.
Meanwhile, David Moyes has Arthur Masuaku finally living up to his potential on a regular basis at West Ham, with the usually-erratic 27-year-old shining against Manchester City, Wolves and Leicester.
Furthermore, Aaron Cresswell has been perhaps the most impressive left-sided defender in the league this season, his wondrous deliveries from out wide sparking a demand in some quarters for an England call-up.
