Dean Jones has told Give Me Sport that West Ham and Crystal Palace have been following London-born Isaiah Jones “closely” ahead of the January transfer window, as he continues to impress for Championship side Middlesbrough.
Jones, 23, has broken into Middlesbrough’s side over the past 12 months, last season shining alongside Djed Spence. The latter has since gone to Tottenham and despite rumours in the summer of a move, Jones has remained at Boro.
This season, he has had a hand in five goals during his 16 Championship appearances – scoring two, creating three. His form was strong last season too, even earning praise from then-Derby manager Wayne Rooney: “A very good player”.
In the summer, 90Min said Tottenham and Chelsea were considering a move for Jones. He has a contract until June 2025 and now, transfer expert Jones has told GMS that West Ham and Palace are the clubs following Jones closest.
“It would be a nice addition. Palace and West Ham have been following Isaiah Jones most closely. He hasn’t been quite at his best recently,” Jones claims, with a possible move for the Middlesbrough star having potential ahead of January.

Jones would be a superb signing for either club. The likes of Tottenham and Chelsea should put Jones off – just look at Spence. He has managed just two substitute appearances for Spurs since joining the club in the summer.
Jones will be wary of that. Slightly older than Spence, he is at a stage in his career in which he needs to be playing regular football. At Palace, he would get that. Patrick Vieira is willing to throw young players into his side.
Palace have also used the Championship as a pool to improve their side – Ebere Eze and Michael Olise are examples. West Ham have the option of using Jones in the Conference League, meaning he will play. Either, is a good move.
