West Ham United had a move for Samuel Bastien rejected on deadline day, HBVL in Belgium have reported.
West Ham submitted an £11 million bid to Standard Liege for the 24-year-old, as they looked to wrap up some last minute business.
However, Standard were not willing to accept West Ham’s offer – and David Moyes’s side ended up having a disappointing end to the window.
Bastien has scored two goals in his first two games this season, so Standard’s reluctance to offload him was understandable.
Bastien could have helped to bolster West Ham’s midfield options for the campaign ahead though.

The Hammers actually have a good set of players in the centre of the pitch, with the likes of Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek both impressing, but Moyes appeared to want one more player to add to his midfield trio.
Bastien would have given West Ham more of an attacking threat in that area, but they simply could not agree a deal.
It was a similar feel of frustration for West Ham, who saw their attempts to sign numerous players fail over the course of the summer.
