According to a report from the Sun, West Ham ace Jack Wilshere is set to miss the rest of the season after a fresh setback to his ankle injury.

The 27-year-old joined the Hammers on a free transfer in the summer, after his contract expired with Arsenal, but he has endured a nightmare start to life in east London, making just four Premier League starts thus far.

Many West Ham fans criticised the signing of Wilshere, highlighting the risk involved in giving the 34-capped England international a three year contract worth £100,000 per week.

On his day, Wilshere is a top class player, but his never-ending injury problems seem as though they are here to stay, and it is hard to envisage a time when he will be free from his physical ailments.

And according to a report from the Sun, the 27-year-old will not return to action this season.

The sad thing is, however, that not too many West Ham fans will be upset by that news.
