Sunderland are reportedly keen on West Ham striker Diafra Sakho.
According to Sky Sports, Diafra Sakho wants talks about his future at West Ham after the club received an £11m bid from Sunderland for his services.
Sakho, 26, was signed by current Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce back in the summer of 2014, and he made an instant impact in a West Ham shirt.
The Senegal international hit 12 goals in his debut Premier League season, finishing the campaign as West Ham’s top goalscorer whilst becoming a key player for Allardyce.
Sakho hasn’t been quite so important under Allardyce’s replacement Slaven Bilic, starting less than half of West Ham’s Premier League games – and his future is now in question.
West Ham are searching for a new striker who can score goals on a consistent basis in the Premier League, and that could mean that Sakho leaves for a Premier League rival.
Sky Sports report that Sunderland and Allardyce have submitted an £11m bid for Sakho, and it’s so far unclear whether West Ham are ready to accept that offer or not.
However, it’s claimed that Sakho wants a decision on his future to come quickly, and is looking to clarify his situation with the Hammers because he wants to start pre-season with the club he will play for next season – whether that’s West Ham, Sunderland or anybody else.
Reuniting with Allardyce could be appealing for Sakho, as it would hand him guaranteed first-team football and a dangerous partnership with Jermain Defoe, whilst Bilic would receive funds to put towards a new striker, and we could see a decision on Sakho’s future come this week.
