According to the Daily Mail, West Ham United forward Diafra Sakho is in talks with Rennes over a move to join the French side, potentially on loan.

The Hammers swooped to sign Sakho from French side Metz back in 2014, and after two successive 20-goal seasons, fans were encouraged by his arrival at Upton Park.

Sakho hit 12 goals in 26 games in his first season to make a real impression under Sam Allardyce, but hasn’t quite managed to replicate that form since, with his next 12 goals coming across 45 games in all competitions.

The Senegal hitman has yet to start a single Premier League game this season, and having attempted to force a move away over the summer, Sakho may finally get his move this time around.

Now, the Daily Mail report that West Ham and Sakho are in talks with French side Rennes over a deal to send the striker back to France before Wednesday’s transfer deadline.

It’s claimed that the talks are involving a loan deal and an eventual £10million transfer fee, should Sakho score seven goals in the second half of the season.

That wouldn’t immediately boost David Moyes’ transfer kitty, but would at least make some room for another signing whilst offloading a seemingly disgruntled player from his squad.

It’s noted that Bordeaux, Crystal Palace, Newcastle United, Swansea City and West Bromwich Albion are all keen on Sakho, but Rennes now appear to be leading the race.
