Crystal Palace’s Joel Ward is said to be in West Bromwich Albion’s sights as they look to make a signing this week.
West Bromwich Albion are willing to spend around £4 million on a new right-back, according to the Express and Star.
The newspaper claims the Baggies hope to strengthen in the position before the weekend, with a loan-to-buy deal possible, and adds they are chasing Joel Ward of Crystal Palace.
Ward is the latest right-back to be linked with a move to West Brom, who are said to have pulled out of deals for Tom James of Yeovil, Jack Stacey of Luton and James Tavernier of Rangers in the regular transfer window.
And the Express and Star reports the Crystal Palace man may be allowed to leave amid the impressive form of Aaron Wan Bissaka – Ward’s main rival at Selhurst Park.
Palace, though, may also be wary of losing Ward, with Martin Kelly their only other natural right-back.
Unlike Premier League clubs, West Brom can still make temporary signings – including those with an agreement to be made permanent in January – up to and including August 31st.
