According to the Telegraph, West Bromwich Albion are prepared to pay £650,000 in compensation to land Alex Neil.

West Brom have made Neil their top target to take over from James Shan, as they look for a new manager.

Shan is set to be in charge of the Baggies at the weekend, but Albion will then push to get a deal for Neil done.

Neil has impressed West Brom’s board with the job he has done at Preston over the past two years.

Neil has made Preston play off contenders, despite only having a very limited budget at Deepdale, in comparison to the rest of the division.

West Brom now feel that the Scot could be the perfect man to take them forward, as they look to get promoted this season.

West Brom are almost certain to claim one of the play off spots this term, and the hope around the Hawthorns will be that the impending appointment of Neil provides them with the boost they need to hit form for the run in.
