West Bromwich Albion scouts have checked on Mainz striker Jhon Cordoba this season, the Daily Mail reports.
Baggies representatives are said to have been present during the Bundesliga outfit’s 4-2 win against Frankfurt last weekend.
And Cordoba is unlikely to have done his chances of a move to The Hawthorns any harm, scoring in the 60th minute to spark an incredible comeback from two goals down and all but secure his side’s survival.
The 24-year-old found the net five times and provided as many assists in Germany’s top flight this past campaign, adding a further three strikes in cup competitions.
And the report states that his style of play has seen him likened to Didier Drogba, the former Chelsea and Ivory Coast striker.

West Brom are expected to enter the market for a new centre-forward this summer, with Rickie Lambert and Saido Berahino leaving at various stages of the season without being replaced.
Having said that, Cordoba could prove a difficult acquisition, having never been capped by Colombia at senior level.
The report adds the Baggies are hopeful of keeping hold of another South American front man, Salomon Rondon.
