West Bromwich Albion are reportedly leading the race to sign Robert Huth ahead of Midlands rivals, Aston Villa.

Villa only have a limited budget, and the fact that Huth is a free agent appealed to Steve Bruce’s side.

However, it appears that Villa may have to go back to the drawing board, as West Brom are also keen on Huth.
The Baggies are now reportedly leading the race to bring in the former Leicester City man, who could be an asset at Championship level.

Huth did not feature much last season, but would bring with him a wealth of experience to whoever signs him.
Ordinarily, Villa may have felt confident of finding an alternative signing for Huth, but their options are currently very limited, due to their financial problems.
And if West Brom do manage to snap up the German, it would be a blow to Bruce’s plans ahead of new the campaign.
