West Bromwich Albion are on the trail of Fiorentina’s Federico Chiesa.
Fiorentina’s Federico Chiesa in action with Borussia Monchengladbach’s Patrick Herrmann
West Bromwich Albion are monitoring the progress of Fiorentina whizkid Federico Chiesa, according to Tuttomercatoweb.
The outlet claim the Baggies dispatched a scout to Florence last night hoping to catch the young winger in action.
Chiesa played the full 90 minutes as they drew 2-2 with Torino, and impressed in doing so, creating four chances.
Chiesa is 19-years-old and is an Italy under-20 international.
The teenager has 10 Serie A starts this campaign and seven substitute appearances, scoring twice and providing two assists.
He also has five Europa League appearances to his name this season and one goal, and a showing in the Coppa Italia, so West Brom’s scouts seemed to simply get unlucky in their bid to see him in action.
If the name rings a bell, it is because he is the son of former Italy international Enrico Chiesa.
Chiesa scored seven goals for his country including a strike at Euro ’96, and played for clubs including Parma and Fiorentina in the 1990s, winning both the UEFA Cup and Cup Winners Cup.
