West Brom’s Sebastien Pocognoli is reportedly on Swansea’s radar.
West Bromwich Albion defender Sebastien Pocognoli is a target for Premier League rivals Swansea City, according to a report in Thursday’s Sun newspaper (page 53).
The Swans are allegedly looking to pay £1 million for the Belgian left-back, who has been pushed further down the pecking order by Brendan Galloway’s arrival on loan from Everton.
Pocognoli, a 2014 capture from Hannover 96, is yet to feature at senior level this season and has appeared once in the league since Tony Pulis was appointed manager on New Year’s Day 2015.
It is unlikely, therefore, that the Baggies would block the 29-year-old’s exit should an offer materialise, given that his contract expires at the end of the campaign.
Swansea, though, are already fairly strong at left-back, with young Scot Stephen Kingsley currently occupying the position as Neil Taylor and Franck Tabanou wait in the wings.
Though naturally a right-back, Kyle Naughton can also comfortably operate on the opposite side of the back four where needed.
Should Pocognoli depart then Pulis may look to step up his pursuit of Leicester’s Jeffrey Schlupp and Leeds’ Charlie Taylor, who have been heavily linked with West Brom moves in recent weeks.
