West Bromwich Albion signed Ali Gabr on loan from Zamalek in the January transfer window.

The Baggies signed Gabr from Zamalek in the January transfer window on loan for the remainder of the 2017-18 campaign.

According to The Express & Star, West Brom had to pay the Egyptian club a loan fee of £438,000 for the central defender and have the option to secure the services of the 29-year-old on a permanent contract for £1.1 million.
It has been reported by the same publication that the Baggies have decided against taking up the option, meaning that the Egypt international defender will now return to Zamalek.

Good decision from West Bromwich Albion?
As reported by The Express & Star, Gabr failed to play a single match for the West Brom first team and could future just twice for the Under-23 team.
It makes sense for the Baggies, who will play in the Championship next season after getting relegated from the Premier League, not to sign the 29-year-old centre-back on a permanent contract, as he has not make any impact whatsoever – although he is involved in the ongoing 2018 World Cup finals in Russia with Egypt.
