Report: West Brom’s Tyler Roberts tempted by Leeds after rejected £4m bid

Leeds United recently saw a £4 million bid for West Bromwich Albion’s Tyler Roberts rejected by the Premier League side.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, the prospect of joining Leeds is proving quite tempting for Tyler Roberts after the Championship side’s £4 million bid for the forward was rejected by West Brom.

Roberts appears to have sparked quite the chase for his signature, with the Daily Mail reporting that the Whites are joined by the likes of Rangers and Marseille in the running.

The Gers and Ligue 1 side are both keen to take the 19-year-old when his contract expires at the end of the season, but Leeds have made their move for this window.

The Mail reports that the Baggies received a bid of £4 million from Thomas Christiansen’s side, which they have since rejected. However, perhaps there is the slightest chance that the teenager may have been left slightly disappointed by the offer being turned down.

The Mail adds that Roberts would be tempted by an Elland Road switch, which could prove bad news for West Brom given that they are keen to tie him down to a new contract and are trying to make assurances that may help convince him to put pen to paper at The Hawthorns.

It remains to be seen if Leeds come back in with a fresh bid, but if Roberts does end up having his heart set on joining the Whites – the Mail does not suggest however, that his interest has gone that far at this stage – he may decide against signing a new deal, and that will leave the Baggies with a key decision to make.

Losing the Walsall loanee at the end of his contract could see the Baggies bag just £300,000 in compensation if he joins Rangers or Marseille, so perhaps the Leeds offer will become a lot more tempting to West Brom too, if the Whites put the £4 million back on the table.
