West Bromwich Albion could have to respond to an eye-watering offer for their star striker before the window’s deadline.
A report in the Daily Mail has suggested that Chinese Super League side Tianjin Quanjian are preparing to test West Brom’s resolve by making a £30 million move for Salomon Rondon.

The CSL side have been linked with a couple of England-based strikers during this window already – ESPN recently reported that they were targeting Leeds United forward Chris Wood after failing to land Diego Costa from Chelsea – and it appears that they have now turned their attention to the Venezuelan.
West Bromwich Albion’s Salomon Rondon
The Mail reports that they plan to offer the Baggies £30 million for their top scorer. And while the club’s hierarchy may perhaps be forgiven for considering the bid – there is no reason to suggest that they are weighing up the deal however – it seems clear how Tony Pulis would feel about the offer.
The Mail suggests that Pulis wanted to add another striker to his ranks before speculation surrounding Rondon’s future arose, so there is surely no way that he would give such a deal his blessing, especially with such a small amount of time left in the window.

West Brom have made moves for Callum Wilson, Abel Hernandez and Odion Ighalo this month (via Mail), and Pulis would have surely been hoping to add to his existing squad this month rather than moving for a striker simply to replace Rondon.

And there is no reason to suggest that they would actually be capable of replacing Rondon. The 27-year-old has scored seven times in the Premier League to top the club’s goalscoring charts, and he is surely needed if the club are going to build on a promising first half of the season.
