Gibbs is not the first West Bromwich Albion player in whom Newcastle United have been credited with interest.

Newcastle United are taking an interest in another West Bromwich Albion player, according to the Daily Mail (August 2nd live blog, entry 16:51).
Strongly linked with a move for Salomon Rondon, Newcastle are also said to like the striker’s West Brom teammate Kieran Gibbs.
The Daily Mail speculates, however, that Gibbs could be beyond the Magpies’ current budget.
Newcastle are thought to be keen to strengthen in the left-back’s position, with Stanley N’Soki of Paris Saint-Germain their latest target, according to the same report.

West Brom, meanwhile, have already added Conor Townsend – formerly of Scunthorpe United – to their options, which could make Gibbs more attainable should Newcastle choose to pursue their alleged interest.
Gibbs, who has 10 caps for England, began his career at Arsenal before moving to West Brom for a reported fee of £6.75 million a year ago.
Would the West Brom left-back be a good addition for Newcastle United?
