Watford ideally want £25 million for Troy Deeney, while West Bromwich Albion are considering offering the striker a six-figure salary.
Watford’s Troy Deeney is attracting attention from West Brom
A report from the Daily Mail has suggested that West Brom are prepared to hand Troy Deeney an eye-watering contract worth £100,000 a week if they manage to land the Watford talisman this summer.
The Mail reports that Deeney was growing slightly frustrated at Vicarage Road during the tenure of former boss Walter Mazzarri and may still be tempted to consider moving on, even after the Italian’s departure.

And it appears that the Baggies are ready to try and take advantage of Deeney’s potential discontent by making a move for him in the coming months – though they will have to pay a staggering fee if they hope to complete a deal.
The Mail reports that Watford want £25 million for their captain, but could be willing to accept £20 million. And given that West Brom are prepared to pay Deeney a six-figure salary – comfortably making him the club’s highest paid player (via Mail) – it would hardly be a surprise if Tony Pulis was keen to sanction the kind of bid that would appeal to their Premier League rivals.

The Mail adds that Leicester are also keen on Deeney, but West Brom’s base may work in their favour given Deeney’s Birmingham roots.
It perhaps would not be a surprise if news of West Brom’s desire to land Deeney prompted a mix response amongst the Baggies supporters.
The 28-year-old has reached double figures for league goals in each of the last six seasons, and has scored 23 goals across the last two campaigns in the Premier League, but his age surely means that he would need to hit the ground running if he did hope to justify the club’s decision to potentially pay such a fee.
