The Newcastle United hitman has emerged as a transfer target for West Bromwich Albion.
The Baggies are interested in signing Magpies hitman Aleksandar Mitrovic this month, according to Sky Sports News, but any kind of deal will depend on whether Alan Pardew manages to raise funds by selling Jonny Evans.
The Serbian has played a peripheral role for Newcastle this season, making just six Premier League appearances all season long, and they have all come from the substitutes bench.
He still has plenty to offer at the highest level, however, and maybe a fresh start away from St James’ Park is exactly what he needs to help breath fire back into his stuttering career.
West Brom are a team in desperate need of more firepower in forward areas, with their tally of just 19 Premier League goals scored being the joint third worst in the division.
Sky Sports claim that the Baggies have identified Mitrovic as the ideal addition to their squad this month, but Pardew will have to raise funds by selling players, specifically Jonny Evans, if he is to have any chance of bringing the Magpies striker to the Hawthorns.
Evans is a key target for Manchester City, Arsenal and Leicester City according to the Daily Mail, so West Brom should not face any difficulties in shifting him.
And if they manage to do that, they could finally get their hands on the Newcastle forward.
Whether he is the man to keep them in the division, though, remains to be seen.
