West Bromwich Albion are reportedly keen to bring Southampton’s Shane Long back to The Hawthorns.

According to The Mirror, West Bromwich Albion are interested in bringing Southampton striker Shane Long during this month’s transfer window.

The Baggies beat Hull City 3-1 in the Premier League earlier today, with Tony Pulis’ side continuing to impress, particularly going forward.

However, despite Hal Robson-Kanu’s goal against Southampton on Saturday, West Brom still need some attacking reinforcements, with striker Salomon Rondon needing some proven cover.

Now, The Mirror report that West Brom want to bring in a striker they let go almost three years ago, as the Baggies allegedly want to bring Southampton’s Shane Long back to the club.

Long, 29, hit 22 goals in 87 games for West Brom following a 2011 move from Reading, but was sold on to Hull City in January 2014, and spent just six months there before being signed by Southampton.

The Irishman enjoyed a strong campaign last season, scoring 13 goals in 34 games, but has struggled for playing time under Claude Puel, starting only five Premier League games this season and scoring just one goal.

Long is now being linked with a move away from St. Mary’s Stadium, as the Daily Mail reported over the weekend that West Ham United are keen on Long, and now West Brom are believed to be keen as well.

Convincing Southampton to part with the striker could be tough though, as Charlie Austin is out for a number of months with a shoulder injury, and Jay Rodriguez is working his way back to regular match action after a lengthy lay-off, meaning Southampton may want to add another striker rather than losing one to a Premier League rival this month.
