West Bromwich Albion have reportedly made an offer to take the youngster on trial.

Darren Moore the head coach

West Brom have apparently made contact with non-league side Hednesford Town about the prospect of taking youngster Lewis Archer on trial ahead of a potential move to The Hawthorns, according to a report from the Daily Mail.

The Baggies have undoubtedly been one of the busiest teams in England following the closure of the transfer window. Wes Hoolahan and Tyrone Mears have both arrived on free transfers – the latter’s deal was completed before the deadline – while Bakary Sako is amongst the other free agents to have been on trial with Darren Moore’s men.

And Moore is seemingly hoping that they will be able to add Archer in the near future. The Mail reports that the Championship high-flyers have made contact with the Northern Premier League side about a potential switch for Archer.

The 20-year-old forward is impressing for Hednesford this term and scored their third goal in their FA Cup victory at Rugby Town at the weekend. He has scored four goals in seven games this season.

But those stats become all the more impressive when you consider that the West Brom target has started just three times. And it appears that he may be handed the chance to test himself at a significantly higher level.

If he does end up heading to West Brom for a trial and does well enough to earn a deal, then he would arguably be joining one of the most exciting attacking units in the Championship. The Baggies are the top goalscorers this season, and currently sit third in the table following their win over Millwall on Saturday.
