West Bromwich Albion are reportedly keen on Sam Allardyce.
According to The Mirror, West Bromwich Albion are interested in making Sam Allardyce their new manager following the departure of Tony Pulis.
After a 4-0 defeat to Chelsea on Saturday afternoon, the Baggies chose to sack Pulis on Monday, bringing his time at The Hawthorns to an end after nearly three years in the job.
The 59-year-old leaves the club after just two wins in the last 21 Premier League outings, with fans certainly disgruntled by his style of play towards the end of his reign.
Those same fans won’t be too happy with the latest reports then, as The Mirror claim that West Brom have identified Sam Allardyce as a top target for the job.
Allardyce, 63, has been out of work since leaving Crystal Palace at the end of last season, and may be tempted back into Premier League management with the Baggies.
Allardyce was not only born in nearby Dudley, but even signed for West Brom as a player-coach back in 1989, and a return to the club could be somewhat appealing for the former England boss.
It’s claimed that owner Guochuan Lai isn’t too concerned about the style of play as long as results are positive, hence the interest in Allardyce, who has recently been touted for the Everton job.
Allardyce’s record of keeping teams in the Premier League – such as West Ham United, Sunderland and Crystal Palace – will make him appealing to West Brom, and whilst fans may be concerned about the style of play being too similar to Pulis, the Baggies need results right now.
