West Bromwich Albion are reportedly keen on approaching Everton boss Sam Allardyce at the end of the season.

According to a report from the Daily Mirror, West Brom have decided to put Sam Allardyce near the top of their summer wishlist with questions continuing to be asked about his future at Everton.

There appears to be a number of Toffees fans who are keen to see Big Sam move on at the end of the campaign with the manager having never quite been able to prove that he is the right man to take the club forward. Everton are still not guaranteed a top-half finish this season by any means.

The Mirror reports that the 63-year-old’s future with the club is uncertain, and the Baggies board are interested in offering him the chance to make an immediate return if he does leave Goodison Park this summer.

However, it appears that West Brom will have to look elsewhere. The Mirror reports that Allardyce has absolutely no plans to go and manage in the Championship, and with 10 points separating them from safety, it appears that the second tier is exactly where the Baggies will be next season.

Could Big Sam be perfect for West Brom?

With several players likely to attract Premier League attention this summer – the Baggies’ strongest XI should arguably be nowhere near their current position – West Brom are set to endure a period of transition as they look to get themselves back into the top flight at the earliest opportunity.

Allardyce has been promoted in both of the last two seasons which have seen him take charge of Championship sides, and the former England boss has worked with the Baggies before. And there can surely be no question that he would be the kind of name that would have little problem attracting some very good players to The Hawthorns next season.

But with the Mirror suggesting that Big Sam does not want to manage in the Championship, it appears that West Brom’s task of trying to convince him to come in is as great as the mountain they have to climb if they want to pull off a great escape.
