Report: West Brom want Celtic’s Stuart Armstrong; face three Premier League rivals

West Bromwich Albion have reportedly joined the race to sign Stuart Armstrong, who Celtic are ready to let go of this summer.

According to a report from the Daily Record, West Brom are amongst the sides interested in Stuart Armstrong this summer, and Celtic are ready to let the 26-year-old move on amid interest from the likes of Southampton and Crystal Palace.

The Record reports that the Hoops are ready to let Armstrong leave Parkhead during this window as he heads into the final year of his contract with the Scottish Premiership giants. Brendan Rodgers’ men have no plans to try and extend Armstrong’s contract further after needing six months to agree a one-year extension previously.

And it appears that there will be no shortage of options for the Scotland international, with the Record reporting that the Baggies are rivalling the likes of Southampton, Palace and Brighton for his signature.

The Record adds that a move to the Premier League is Armstrong’s dream. That would seemingly put Darren Moore’s side at a disadvantage heading into the race, but it appears that West Brom are still determined to try their luck ahead of their return to the Championship.

Armstrong has enjoyed a mixed career at Celtic. He arguably looked like one of the players that may be set to fight for their future when Ronny Deila handed over the reins to Rodgers in 2016, but the current Bhoys boss seemed to bring the very best out of the midfielder during their first season working together.

This past season has been a little more underwhelming from Armstrong, but losing him could still prove to be a real blow for Celtic. Having four sides battling for his signature however, may perhaps lead to the Bhoys landing the kind of fee that would soften the blow of losing Armstrong significantly.
