According to TeamTalk, West Brom want Javier Pereira as their next manager.

Pereira is currently managing in China, in what is his first head coach role in over a decade, but the Baggies want to give him a chance to be a manager in England.

The Spaniard has worked in England in the past, acting as the assistant to Slavisa Jokanovic with both Watford and Fulham, and if Jokanovic’s success is anything to go by, Pereira will bring a stylish brand of football to The Hawthorns.

Pereira has received rave reviews from Fulham Director of Football Tony Khan in the past, who described him as a ‘true football man’.

“I know Javier well from his time at the Club, and we remained in contact after he left. We share the same vision for Fulham and the same philosophy of football, and we’ll work together to apply that shared vision to deliver success. I have the utmost respect in Javier’s abilities, he’s a true football man, understands our Club, and is up for the challenge,” Khan told Fulham’s website last year.

The Baggies have been on the hunt for a new manager for quite some time now, but it seems as though they now have their sights set on Pereira.

The Midlands outfit will be getting a great footballing mind if they land Pereira, who has previously worked very closely with Jordi Cruyff, a man who shares similar views on football as his father, but of course, being a manager in the Championship is about more than just being a great tactician, and it remains to be seen whether or not Pereira ticks all of the other boxes.
