Swansea are reportedly set to sign Barnsley defender Andy Yiadom.

According to The Mirror, Swansea City have agreed a £2million fee with Barnsley for the signing of right back Andy Yiadom in January.

The Swans lost yet again on Monday night, falling to a 3-1 defeat at Everton despite taking a first-half lead through Leroy Fer’s shock goal at Goodison Park.

Manager Paul Clement will be hoping for more creative talent to arrive in January, but one new face could be imminent in his defence, as The Mirror report that Swansea have struck a £2million deal with Barnsley for right back Andy Yiadom, with the Championship club dropping their asking price down from £3million.

It’s noted that West Bromwich Albion have been keen to sign Yiadom, but Swansea have attempted to pip them to his signature by agreeing a deal in advance of the January transfer window.

Yiadom, 26, has impressed for Barnsley since signing from Barnet in 2016, and the Ghanaian international saw a summer move to Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield Town fall through over some injury concerns.

The right back does now appear to be on the verge of a Premier League move, and barring any late bid from West Brom or any other suitor, he will be heading to South Wales to compete with Kyle Naughton.

The news may be something of a blow for Tottenham talent Kyle Walker-Peters, given that The Sun recently reported that Swansea were hoping to take the youngster on loan in January.

Walker-Peters has appeared just twice in the Premier League this season, and given that he is stuck behind Serge Aurier and Kieran Trippier in the pecking order, he may have been hoping to go out on loan in January and play some games.

With Swansea seemingly out of the equation should they tie up a deal for Yiadom, Walker-Peters may have to look elsewhere for playing time, as the January transfer window moves ever closer.
