Leeds United are set to sell forward Kemar Roofe to Anderlecht.

According to the Birmingham Mail, West Bromwich Albion will take £240,000 from Leeds United’s deal to sell forward Kemar Roofe to Anderlecht.

Roofe, 26, hit 15 goals in the Championship last season, taking his game to another level under Marcelo Bielsa as he finally fulfilled his potential at Elland Road.

However, with one year left on his contract, Roofe is now set to move on, and will allegedly complete a £6.5million move to Vincent Kompany’s Anderlecht imminently.

Leeds will lose a fair chunk of cash though, with Oxford United taking a slice of the profit having sold Roofe to the Whites in 2016, and West Brom will in turn take a cut of Oxford’s income.

West Brom brought Roofe through their ranks before selling him on to Oxford in 2015, and their cut will allegedly see them earn around £240,000.

It’s not exactly a huge windfall for the Baggies, but it’s at least a useful chunk of money to be used ahead of Thursday’s transfer deadline.

Kemar Roofe of Leeds United looks to pass the ball during a pre-season friendly match between Manchester United and Leeds United at Optus Stadium on July 17, 2019 in Perth, Australia.

The main thing will be that West Brom will rue letting Roofe go to Oxford in the first place, given what a quality player he has become at Leeds.

West Brom would love to have Roofe in their ranks now, and whilst they will profit from his move to Belgium, it will be tinged with a hint of regret at offloading him four years ago.
