The Napoli striker has struggled to make his mark under coach Maurizio Sarri but Tony Pulis could find he’s well suited to West Brom.
West Brom have made a £17 million bid for in-demand Napoli striker Manolo Gabbiadini, Football Italia reports, ahead of what is likely to be a fortnight of intense speculation surrounding his future.
The Italian international has been linked with a number of a clubs throughout the last few months, with Everton, Southampton, Leicester and Stoke all reported to be interested at one stage or another.
However, Tony Pulis’ Baggies have now emerged as the clear frontrunner for a player looking for a fresh start after two disappointing years in Naples.
Gabbiadini’s agent, Silvio Pagliari, confirmed earlier in the week that the frontman’s impressive physical qualities mean he would be ideally suited to the Premier League or the Bundesliga, per Football Italia, and the same publication reports that West Brom have tabled a bid of £17 million to bring him to the Hawthorns in January.
The 25-year-old is not the typical Pulis centre-forward, renowned for his technique and subtlety rather than powerful running or aerial prowess, but he could form an effective partnership with seven-goal Salomon Rondon as West Brom aim to secure a top half finish this season.
However, it remains to be seen whether The Baggies will need to up their bid after Corriere Dello Sport reported that Napoli were considering raising Gabbiadini’s price tag after he came off the bench to score crucial goals in their last two league fixtures.
