The two Premier League clubs will reportedly go head-to-head for the former Fulham attacker.
West Bromwich Albion could launch a bid to sign Besiktas star Kerim Frei in January, according to Turkish outlet Milliyet.
Frei has been with the Turkish Super Lig club since joining the club from Fulham in 2013, and helped them to win the division last season.
The 22-year-old has not been a regular starter for the Istanbul side in his three years at the club, however, starting just 20 of his 77 league and European appearances.
The full Turkey international’s future has consequently been the result of some speculation in recent years, and it appears as though he could be on the move in January.
According to Milliyet, Albion manager Tony Pulis is keeping a close eye on Frei’s situation and could be tempted into making a move for the young winger in January.
Meanwhile, Sport Witness also claim that David Moyes’ Sunderland are keen on a move for the former Fulham man, and the two clubs could go head-to-head in a few weeks’ time.
Frei emerged as a young star at Craven Cottage after making his debut as a 17-year-old in 2011, and it was something of a debated decision when the London club allowed him to leave two years later.
Things have not worked out as hoped for the winger in Turkey, and a move could be on the cards if either the Baggies or the Black Cats firm up their reported interest.
