According to the Daily Mail, four Premier League clubs sent scouts to watch Celtic defender Jozo Simunovic in action against Aberdeen on Saturday afternoon.

Celtic completed a remarkable treble on Saturday, beating Aberdeen 2-1 at Hampden Park in the final of the Scottish Cup, meaning they end the season having gone without defeat in domestic competition.

The Bhoys have excelled under Brendan Rodgers, and will hope to bring in new signings this summer to strengthen their squad, but they also face mounting interest from rival clubs in some of their key players.

Whilst it’s Kieran Tierney, Stuart Armstrong and Moussa Dembele attracting the most interest, the Daily Mail also claim that four Premier League clubs sent scouts to watch defender Jozo Simunovic in action against Aberdeen.

Burnley, Crystal Palace, Swansea City and West Bromwich Albion are all believed to have had representation at Hampden Park in order to see Simunovic ahead of making moves for the defender.

It’s added that Celtic would want a fee of around £8million to sell Simunovic this summer, with Newcastle United also believed to be interested in signing him as they prepare for life back in the Premier League.

Simunovic, 22, joined Celtic from Dinamo Zagreb in September 2015 as a replacement for Virgil van Dijk, and whilst he struggled for form and fitness in his first season with the Bhoys, he has starred under Brendan Rodgers this season.

The Croatian ace is now attracting major Premier League interest, and with five clubs potentially fighting it out for his signature, Celtic may well hope for a bidding war if they absolutely have to lose their most impressive centre back from this season.
