West Bromwich Albion are reportedly set to talk to Chris Hughton.
According to The Telegraph, West Bromwich Albion are set for talks with former Brighton and Hove Albion boss Chris Hughton next week.
The Baggies have missed out on promotion back to the Premier League after defeat to Aston Villa in the play-offs, losing on penalties at The Hawthorns last night.
It’s now a big summer on the cards for West Brom, as they may lose some of their biggest names and need to find a permanent manager, meaning there’s plenty of work to be done.
The attention will primarily be on finding a boss to replace interim manager James Shan, who has been in charge since Darren Moore was sacked in March, and after West Brom missed out on Preston’s Alex Neil in April.
Now, The Telegraph report that West Brom will hold talks with Hughton next week, just days after he was sacked as Brighton and Hove Albion boss.
Hughton, 60, has proven over the years that he’s a top Championship boss, and he managed to keep the Seagulls in the top flight two seasons in a row before being given his marching orders for just two league wins in 2019.
Hughton may fancy an immediate return to management even in the Championship, but West Brom have an exciting, big-name alternative in mind – Nice boss Patrick Vieira.
The ex-Arsenal midfielder is thought to be on West Brom’s radar after a decent first season in France, but whether he’d trade in a top-flight place with Nice for a Championship campaign with West Brom is another matter.
