According to the Daily Star, West Bromwich Albion are interested in snapping up Bristol City defender Aden Flint this summer – but may have to battle Fulham.

The relegated Baggies have appointed caretaker Darren Moore as their full-time manager, and as a defender in his playing days, he may well seek defensive reinforcements this summer.

West Brom stand to lose Jonny Evans to a bargain release clause, whilst Craig Dawson and Ahmed Hegazy have both been linked with Premier League returns, with Gareth McAuley poised to leave on a free transfer.

A centre back may become a priority for West Brom, and the Daily Star subsequently believe that the Baggies may launch a move to sign Bristol City’s Aden Flint having missed out in 2017.

Flint has allegedly been told that he can leave Ashton Gate if the £9million asking price on his head is met, and West Brom may look to splash the cash on him – but newly-promoted Fulham are also keen.

Slavisa Jokanovic certainly needs to strengthen in the heart of his defence given that Denis Odoi and Tim Ream spent most of the campaign as his first-choice pairing, and Flint could boost his options.

The 28-year-old spent time in non-league football with Alfreton Town before making his name with Swindon Town, and then featuring as a regular with Bristol City, even impressing in front of goal with 37 goals for the Robins.

Standing at a giant 6ft 5in tall, Flint is a proven Championship player with more than 125 appearances to his name in the second tier, and would certainly be a boost to a Baggies defence which may be short on numbers this summer.
