The Welshman was reportedly unhappy about the Premier League side’s lack of activity during the transfer window.

A report in the Daily Mirror has suggested that West Bromwich Albion have approached Roy Hodgson about returning to the Hawthorns as manager if Tony Pulis decides to leave.
The Mirror reports that Pulis was unhappy following a largely disappointing summer for the club that saw just a handful of new signings, and arguably just the one marquee arrival in Nacer Chadli.

And while the Baggies suggested that the Welshman’s frustrations were not going to lead to his departure, the Mirror claims that they were preparing themselves for his possible resignation by turning to a familiar face.
Hodgson spent around 15 months at the Hawthorns before leaving to take the England hot-seat in 2012, and arguably did a good job.
Hodgson during his time as West Brom manager
Initially taking over in February 2011, he guided the club on a run that saw them lose just twice in their last 13 league games to secure a safe mid-table finish in the top flight, before leading them to a top-half place in his only full campaign in charge.
Despite the good work he did however, his return may receive a mixed reception from supporters. He has been out of club management for the last four years, and his last game in the dugout saw his England side suffer a shock defeat to Iceland at Euro 2016, so there are bound to be questions about whether his best years are behind him.

However, the Mirror adds that while the 69-year-old wants to return to management after leaving the national team, he is not entirely keen on returning to his old side just yet.
But that stance may well change if Pulis does end up leaving, and the chance to come back is handed to him.
