The West Bromwich Albion project is not one that ‘attracts’ the Rennes striker M’Baye Niang, according to L’Equipe.
It was claimed by The Sun just yesterday (Monday) that Niang was ‘desperate’ to join West Brom.
But France’s leading sports paper now says the opposite.
It states that Niang, who scored 15 goals in 36 games for Rennes last season, is likely to leave the Brittany club this summer.
But it adds that Rennes have received ‘mainly expressions of interest’, including one from West Brom.
Niang was linked with three of the Baggies’ Premier League rivals, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and West Ham United, earlier in the window.
And Le Parisien reported in June that the new Rennes president, Nicolas Holveck, wants a minimum of €18-20 million (£16.5-18.4m) for the 25-year-old former Watford loanee.
But a loan deal containing an option to be made permanent at the end of this season, could be on the cards, according to The Sun.
Niang is one of several in his position to be linked with a move to West Brom, who have yet to add to their options since being promoted last term.
