West Bromwich Albion defender Jonny Evans has been linked with a move to their Premier League rivals Leicester City in recent times.

A report in The Sun has suggested that West Brom are preparing to try and make Jonny Evans the highest paid player in their history as they try and stave off interest from Leicester by handing the 29-year-old a deal worth £100,000 a week.

Evans has been an exceptional player for the Baggies since his arrival from Manchester United in 2015, and that form has not gone unnoticed.

The Sun reports that Leicester made a £10 million bid for the Northern Ireland international earlier in the window, and that has prompted West Brom to consider acting swiftly as they brace themselves for another bid from the Foxes for the stalwart.

According to The Sun, the Baggies are planning to offer Evans the six-figure salary, which would make him their highest paid player ever, and extend his contract by a further two years, potentially keeping him at the Hawthorns until 2021.

And The Sun adds that regardless of whatever happens with Evans, Tony Pulis still wants to bring John Terry in following the end of his contract with Chelsea.

And while some may have their doubts about what Terry could achieve if he does move to West Brom, there is no question that the fans will receive a major boost if the club manages to tie Evans down to a long-term contract.
