A report in the Express and Star has suggested that West Brom are prepared to make Darren Fletcher a better offer in an attempt to keep him away from Premier League rivals Stoke City.

The Express and Star reports that Fletcher is out of contract at the Hawthorns this summer and the Baggies’ previous offers have been knocked back by the 33-year-old.

However, West Brom are prepared to make an improved offer to prevent Fletcher having his head turned too much by speculation surrounding a potential switch to Stoke, the Express and Star reports.

According to the Express and Star, a move to the Potters could appeal to Fletcher as he lives closer to their ground and is apparently disappointed with the criticism that has come his way in recent times.

Although the former Manchester United man did not have the best season, it could certainly be argued that he has the quality and experience to continue making an important contribution for Tony Pulis’ side, even if he enjoys less game-time as the twilight of his career approaches.

And as West Brom are clearly keen to keep him at the Hawthorns, it would surely be a mistake if they decided to make the kind of offer that did not do enough to persuade Fletcher to ignore the interest that is coming from their top flight rivals.
