Report: West Brom players stunned Alan Pardew still in charge

A report has suggested that the West Bromwich Albion players are very surprised that the Baggies have not made another change.

It cannot be much fun being Alan Pardew right now. There has been a noticeable shift amongst the West Brom fans in recent weeks, with the atmosphere amongst the supporters often evoking memories of the final weeks of Tony Pulis’ tenure at The Hawthorns.

The Baggies appear to be hurtling towards the Championship as they find themselves eight points off safety in the Premier League, and now, according to a report from the Daily Mirror, it seems that the fans are not the only ones to be concerned by the idea of keeping Pardew at the helm when the club are in such a dire situation.

According to the Mirror, several of the club’s players have been left stunned by the Baggies hierarchy’s decision to not get rid of Pardew despite the fact that he has only overseen one league win since arriving earlier in the season.

The Mirror reports that those players believe that keeping Pardew in the job is a sign of acceptance regarding the club’s relegation to the second tier, while the report adds that the West Brom board are struggling to find any alternative replacements, and that is one of the main reasons why Pardew has not been dismissed.

For the movers and shakers at The Hawthorns, it was surely now or never immediately after the Watford game in regards to making a change as they are running out of time for a new man to make an impact during the final weeks of the season.

West Brom could still keep themselves up this season, but it would require the most dramatic turnaround in fortunes for the side that have lost their last six, and their very slim hopes will probably not be helped by keeping the manager who has overseen those defeats in charge heading into the final nine games.
