West Bromwich Albion are reportedly ready to cash in on their key man Jonny Evans, who is attracting plenty of attention from their Premier League rivals.

According to the Daily Mirror’s live transfer feed (27th December 2017; 11:33 am), West Brom are now planning to actively cash in on Jonny Evans during the January transfer window as Alan Pardew seeks funds to spend next month.

Evans has been a key man for the Baggies ever since arriving from Manchester United. And with the club in such a precarious position in the Premier League, the idea of selling him to one of their top flight rivals may have seemed somewhat unthinkable not too long ago.

However, the Mirror’s live transfer feed (27th December 2017; 11:33 am) reports that Pardew wants to sign a new striker during the window and does not currently have the budget to go out and sign one.

Therefore, with Evans attracting attention from the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal, the Mirror reports that West Brom are now set to sell the £30 million-rated centre-back to try and give the manager the money he needs to go out and get a striker.

It is certainly a gamble for the Baggies to try and cash in on Evans in an attempt to sign a new striker next month – but with the 29-year-old out of contract in the summer of 2019 (via transfermarkt), and with the Baggies’ top goalscorer in the Premier League this season boasting just three goals, it is perhaps a roll of the dice worth considering.

Only three players have scored more than once in the top flight for West Brom this season, and their tallies combined amount to just seven goals so letting the January window close without adding another striker, in Pardew’s mind, is perhaps the bigger gamble than letting Evans move to one of the division’s heavyweights.
