West Bromwich Albion are reportedly keen on Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke.
According to the Daily Star, West Bromwich Albion are prepared to offer £16million plus wantaway striker Saido Berahino in a bid to sign Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke.
Benteke, 26, was Palace’s marquee summer signing, as he moved to Selhurst Park from Liverpool in a deal worth £27million, potentially rising to £32m (BBC Sport).
Crystal Palace’s Christian Benteke celebrates scoring
The Belgian, who struggled at Liverpool but thrived with Aston Villa, has so far endured a mixed time at Selhurst Park. With eight goals in 18 Premier League games, Benteke’s goal return is actually quite impressive, but he’s now five games without a goal.
With new manager Sam Allardyce keen to spend on new signings, the Daily Star report that he’s open to letting Benteke go in order to invest elsewhere – and he could end up joining a Premier League rival.
West Brom’s Saido Berahino
It’s stated that West Bromwich Albion are keen on Benteke, and are prepared to offer a deal worth £16million plus striker Saido Berahino in a bid to get a deal done.
Berahino is out of contract at the end of the season, and has played in just four Premier League games this term, with many now expecting the 23-year-old to leave the Hawthorns imminently having snubbed the chance to sign a new deal.
Despite that, it’s claimed that West Brom still value Berahino at £14million, and packed together with their £16million in cash, they hope to tempt Palace into a deal.
Having barely played this season, Berahino’s fitness has to be a huge question, and with Palace desperately needing goals, they may prefer to keep hold of Benteke and his £100,000-a-week wages despite West Brom’s hopes.
