Saido Berahino has long been linked with a move away from the West Midlands.
West Brom’s Saido Berahino has been offered a new deal
West Brom are potentially about to cause another dramatic twist in the Saido Berahino transfer saga, having reportedly offered the striker a new contract, according to Sky Sports.
The English striker, who has been perennially linked with a move away from the Hawthorns, was thought to be all but through the exit door, with strong interest stemming from Stoke City as well as Crystal Palace and Watford.
Stoke previously had an offer rejected earlier in the year, along with Tottenham Hotspur, whose pursuit of the Englishman has been widely documented.
Berahino has been linked with Spurs in the past
Spurs’ attempts to lure Berahino to White hart Lane to partner star forward Harry Kane are thought to be have been key to Berahino’s slump in form last season, hindered further by his fallout with Baggies chairman Jeremy Peace over the transfer saga.
And whilst it was thought that West Brom had finally relented in their attempts to tie down Berahino, it appears, if Sky are to be believed, that they are not going to let him go without a fight.
Will Berahino be a West Brom player next season?
Indeed, with only interest from clubs playing outside of European competition next term, with Spurs cooling their interest, the Baggies are chancing their arm that Berahino won’t necessarily be better off elsewhere.
The academy product is believed to have been offered a new four year deal, with his current contract set to expire next year.
