West Brom still interested in signing William Carvalho from Sporting Lisbon, despite reported interest from Arsenal – among others.

West Bromwich Albion are still interested in signing William Carvalho from Sporting Lisbon this summer, according to the Birmingham Mail.

This is despite the fact that the midfielder – whom the Mirror claimed the Baggies had a £20m bid rejected for in 2016 – is now said to be valued at around £30m.

Tony Pulis remains a fan of Carvalho and views the 25-year-old as the ideal addition to his squad to replace the hole left by Darren Fletcher’s exit to Stoke City.

However, West Brom could face competition from some of the Premier League’s biggest hitters, with the Sun reporting Arsenal were looking to sign Carvalho as part of a £70m double deal, along with Sporting teammate Gelson Martins.

Not only that, but the Croydon Advertiser says that both Crystal Palace and Manchester City are also interested in the Portugal international.

If the West Midlands club did pay £30m for Carvalho then he would become their club record signing, blitzing the current record £13m fee paid for Nacer Chadli last summer (BBC).
