West Bromwich Albion are reportedly considering their options as Alan Pardew comes under pressure.
Pardew has endured a fairly miserable spell at The Hawthorns. Though he was not given the easiest job following the club’s poor form in the final days of Tony Pulis’ tenure, their situation is now even bleaker.
The Baggies are now seven points off safety in the Premier League and look bereft of confidence having only won three times in the top flight all season – and it appears that they may be considering a change.
The Mail suggests that Pardew is coming under increasing pressure, and the West Brom hierarchy are now keeping a keen eye on Potter’s situation – though the Mail adds that the Ostersunds boss would only be interested in a move to England if a somewhat stable Premier League job came up, and of course, West Brom may not be able to offer that if their current form does not pick up dramatically.
Good option for West Brom?
Potter has done an incredible job enhancing his reputation in Sweden having taken over at Ostersunds when they found themselves in the fourth division. They are now in the top flight, have won the Swedish Cup and have gone to the knockout stages of the Europa League this term – where they look set to be knocked out by Arsenal.
Potter is a former Baggies player so may be a popular appointment amongst those who have been impressed by the work that he has done in his current job, but others may feel that it would be something of a gamble given his lack of experience in England.
But with many supporters starting to become resigned to the idea that they will be playing Championship football next term, taking what may appear to be a gamble on trying to get Potter in may actually be a popular move amongst the fans.
