According to The Mirror, West Bromwich Albion are lining up a late move to sign Charlton Athletic attacker Ademola Lookman ahead of Wednesday’s transfer deadline.

The Baggies have been frustrated in the transfer market so far, only landing left back Brendan Galloway on loan from Everton and winger Matt Phillips from QPR – but they now look set to splash the cash this week.

The Express and Star report that West Brom are set to break their transfer record twice in the coming days, first by signing Tottenham winger Nacer Chadli for £13m, and then by snapping up Malaga midfielder Ignacio Camacho for £15.3m.

Those are two exciting deals for the Baggies, but there may yet be more to come as The Mirror report that West Brom have enquired about a possible deal for Charlton Athletic forward Ademola Lookman.

Lookman, 18, was playing for Waterloo FC before being signed by Charlton back in 2014, and he was quickly fast-tracked into the first team, scoring five goals in 24 appearances last season as the Addicks suffered relegation to League One.

Capable of playing out wide or up front, the pacy Lookman looks to be one of English football’s top young talents, and proved it again with a goal against Bolton on Saturday.

West Brom are now hoping to win the race for his signature ahead of the transfer deadline, having made their first move for the player by lodging an enquiry to the League One side.

It’s stated that Lookman is rated in the £4m bracket, and despite having a top young forward at the club already in Jonathan Leko, Charlton teenager Lookman is on Tony Pulis’ radar – and could end up at The Hawthorns in the coming days if the Baggies get their wish.
