Mason Holgate is reportedly set to be given a fresh chance within the Everton first-team this summer.

According to a report from the Liverpool Echo, Everton plan to hand Mason Holgate another chance in pre-season after the defender’s impressive spell at West Brom during the second-half of the year.
Holgate left Goodison Park in January having made just five Premier League appearances for Marco Silva’s side this term. With the former Barnsley man now 22 years of age, some Toffees fans may have been forgiven for wondering whether his long-term future was still at Goodison Park.
But Holgate has enjoyed an excellent spell with the Baggies, who have booked their spot in the play-offs in the Championship. The defender has played 17 times, predominantly as a right-back, though he has also featured in the middle.
West Brom may have hoped that they would stand a chance of keeping the youngster beyond this season, whether that be on a permanent basis or after agreeing another loan.

However, it appears that the Baggies will not be able to hold onto Holgate. The Liverpool Echo reports that while Everton plan to offload most of their loanees this summer, Holgate is one that is expected to get another chance in pre-season.
Holgate arguably still has plenty of work to do to prove that he can make a real impact for Silva’s men next term, but his loan spell at the Hawthorns has likely done his confidence the world of good and he will surely return to Merseyside in a better position to the one that he was in when he left in January.
